Following the success of Net-A-Porter’s first collaboration – a 20-piece womenswear collection – with Gucci last May, the menswear arm of said e-commerce is teaming up with the Italian fashion house once again on another exclusive menswear capsule collection. Designed by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, the 43 pieces run the gamut from apparel to shoes and other accessories.

“There is something for each type of MR PORTER customer. The logo print hoodie and tees appeal to the younger, more urban guy, while a classic horsebit loafer will last and wear a lifetime for the discerning, slightly older one,” said Toby Bateman, managing director of MR PORTER.

The collection intends not only to attract a diversity of customers, but pivots around versatility. Smart blazers and tailored trousers are office-appropriate, while jeans and bomber jackets embroidered with flora and fauna are for casual days. Street-style aficionados will jump at the chance to own Gucci-branded sportswear, such as silk tracksuits and knapsacks emblazoned with the bold logo cube graphic that was first seen on the house’s SS17 womenswear designs.

Small accessories such as sunglasses, ties, cufflinks, watches, scarves, and leather bracelets are also on offer, alongside shoe options including sneakers, ankle boots, and the brand’s iconic leather loafers. Every ready-to-wear item features a yellow Gucci label unique to the capsule collection.

Inspired by urbanism and self-expression, the collaboration is a successful marriage of Italian romance and extravagance with traditional English tailoring – a hark to Britain's Savile Row heritage.

In the collection, you'll find vibrant primary colours, audacious graphic elements, visually-arresting prints and ever-expanding library of signature motifs (flowers, bees, tigers, and the latest additions of skeletons and cats) that propelled Michele's Gucci to a recent resurgence in popularity.

This collaboration is greater than the sum of its parts, building on the strengths of each brand in order to appeal to customers of both.

Gucci x MR PORTER capsule collection is available at www.mrporter.com from Thursday, 18 May. Prices range from approximately S$252 for a tie to S$3,659 for a bomber jacket.
