If there is one thing German designer Philipp Plein is known for, it’s razzmatazz. His namesake label's rock-inspired apparel, liberal in patent leather and skin-tight flashiness, is merely one facet of his glitzy appeal. His undeterred devotion for showmanship is perhaps best displayed at his runway extravaganzas during Milan Fashion Week. Jets of fire have flamed in the air. Stunt riders have sped on motorcycles around a metal globe. Models have strutted hand in hand with giant metal robots and ridden actual roller coasters through his show spaces.
It should come to no surprise that Plein’s first Singapore flagship store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands — which opened with a party attended by Plein himself along with celebrities the likes of Korean singer-DJ Kim Hyoyeon earlier this month — adheres to his “more-is-more” maximalist philosophy. The boutique carries menswear and womenswear; its first floor dedicated to the former, its second to the latter. Above, a look inside the newly minted boutique.
Philipp Plein’s flagship store is located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, #B1-146 and #L1-66, 10 Bayfront Avenue.
