With a storied history that spans close to 125 years, even the layperson would recognise Swarovski for its high-jewellery and fanciful glassworks. Yet few have heard of the Austrian brand’s venture into the horological department. For a brand so steeped in meticulous craftsmanship in the realm of contemporary jewellery, its entry into creating timepieces with the same allure as its Swarovski crystal-infused counterparts is not surprising. In fact, it seemed almost predestined.

This year, Swarovski’s latest Spring/Summer’19 Swiss watch collection, like a crystal, is reflective of the brand’s multifaceted personality. Coalescing the spirit of innovation, modernity and glitz together, timepieces from the collection are imbued with Swarovski’s DNA — with some sporting Swarovski’s crystals and others innovative practice — to become bold, bright, and elegant classics that adorn the wrists of the modern woman.

Take the Crystalline Glam series for instance. One of the most daring and glamourous expressions in the collection, the Crystal Glam series is available in three shades — black, taupe and white — and features a sunray dial filled with 800 mini Swarovski crystals housed within a rose gold-coated stainless steel case. Rose gold-toned Roman numerals front the face of the watch while a clean leather strap or an urban chic metal bracelet serves to complete the look with a spirited touch.

The collection also sees new splashes of colour added to the classic Cosmic Rock watch series. In welcoming the spirit of summer, the coveted bangle watch now sports a new combination of sapphire blue and rose-gold, or in grey and champagne-gold.  Besides the clear crystal index markers, the lavishly colour-coated Ultra Fine Crystal Rocks, an exclusive Swarovski-innovation, are also embellished onto the watch’s bangle, which is designed to adorn any wrist with a glittering appeal.

Swarovski has long explored the realm of contemporary jewellery-inspired timepieces. If anything, much of these exquisite offerings go way beyond functionality to exude an around-the-clock pizzazz for women to revel in the finest hour. Or as Swarovski’s creative director Nathalie Colin says, “We invite women to express every facet of their personality with timepieces that go beyond the functional to exude glamour, style and precision.”
