Regal sophistication meets modernity in Jimmy Choo’s royalty-inspired Fall/Winter ’19 collection. Conjuring up a lavish affair during Milan Fashion Week, creative director Sandra Choi tapers down opulent codes and renders them into the eclectic collection for the modern heroine. Bold yet sleek silhouettes are expressed with lush materials, such as satin, velvet and faux leather, while embroidered-on bijoux evokes an air of extravagance.
The house has also unveiled its first-ever monogram, an interlocking JC, which reflects the house’s ethos of an ever-confident, ever-passionate, and ever-versatile heroine. “I want whatever we do to have a resonance and a timelessness,” Choi says. “This collection is about the Jimmy Choo heroine of today remembering the past, embracing it, but always evolving and changing. She’s dynamic, daring, playful and modern.”
Styles reflecting much of the late ’90s London, an era that relished in the rise of Jimmy Choo, are also incorporated into the pieces through harnessing and buckle detailing. In a way, Choi executes the collection with the kind of finesse that not only encapsulates practicality and glitz, but also empowers the women of today.
