After the successful return of the J+ Fall/Winter '20 collection, which sees Uniqlo's collaboration with German fashion designer, Jil Sander, the capsule returns for the Spring/Summer '21 season. Sanders, a titan of minimalist fashion as well as her mastery of understated clothing made luxuriously looks to encapsulate the feeling of emerging from the hibernation of winter, return to the lightness and renewed energy of spring. “The overall idea is sophistication,” says designer Jil Sander on the collection. “A kind of purity that lets us think of regeneration and a fresh start.”
The collection sees Sander at her best — adding movement and lightness to sculptural tailored pieces, with a dose of pragmatism. Technical lightweight silk blends are melded in graphic dresses and parkas were shortened and paired with a matching flared skirt. The highlight is the deft use of SUPIMA® Cotton, woven into a voluminous dolman sleeve shirt. Tailoring was the highlight of the men's collection, with a 3D-shaped hooded coat, contrasted with a casual polo shirt, shirt-jacket hybrid and denim jeans.
The +J Spring/Summer '21 collection will be available in stores on the 19th of March.
