Miuccia Prada takes to fashion with a light-hearted hand. Even in handling the house's archives for Prada's Cruise '19 collection, the Italian designer looked back into her iconic visual vocabulary from the '90s with a sense of humour. To fans of Prada, the kitschy printed leggings, flares that sit low on the waist and mini-skirts all conjure memories of a bygone era. What was unusual, however, was the designer's decision to hold the show in New York — a decision motivated by the brand's absence in the city and the schedule of the showing a few days apart from the Met Gala on-goings. The collection also reaffirmed Prada's business acumen in the visually arresting separates that seemed to be a paean to the age of Instagram. As the show closed, T Singapore took these archive-inspired pieces straight to the street.
